California Has Become the First State To Use Marijuana Breathalyzer… Do It Or Nah?
Drivers in California that drive while under the influence of marijuana, may be in for a surprise. Police officers in Cali are now testing out there new breathalyzer on residents. This program will be ready to go national in less than a year. Driver will soon have to be careful & think twice about smoking before driving. So far drivers who test positive are not arrested but were not allowed to continue driving.
This new technology was developed by Hound Labs in Oakland, with help from the University of California chemistry department. Unlike previous methods of testing for impaired driver. This method tells police if you have smoked marijuana within the last couple hours. Currently there are no set fines or procedures for impaired drivers. California police department is currently using the breathalyzer to gather data on drivers. I do believe there are pros & cons to this new method. Some people do become a risk to other drivers when there stoned or inebriated. On the other hand you have drivers that can safely drive while under the influence. Should we all be punish for the actions of a few. I guess the main reason is to keep the public safe. Do you agree with marijuana testing on the roads or nah?
California is currently geared to legalize recreational marijuana with over 600,000 signatures from residents.
