Nebraska And Oklahoma VS Colorado
There is a growing problem in Nebraska and Oklahoma since marijuana was legalized in Colorado. The two attorney general of Nebraska and Oklahoma have filed suite with the US supreme court. This moved was aimed to strike down key part of a 2012 voter approved bill. This bill made it possible for residents to gain access to recreational marijuana.
So what’s the problem with this. Nebraska and Oklahoma both are seeing a high increase of marijuana, being transported into their states. Even though marijuana is legal in Colorado, neighboring states does not want the same for their residents. Both states are reporting this to be causing a negate effect in their states. They claim more money and resources are being used to tackle the growing marijuana epidemic. Resulting in more arrest and more government spending, But as a state you receive government grant based on marijuana related arrest. So with more arrest I assume the two states will receive more money from the government. The two states claim that there jail are over populated due to increased arrest. Simple stop locking people up next problem. So whats the real deal here.
The two states feel as though Colorado is somehow undermining their authority. How can we enforce something that’s legal 20 min away. Nebraska and Oklahoma wants recreational marijuana shut down in Colorado. Or maybe you should do a better job at controlling your own states. Banning marijuana again would just bring a flood of marijuana to the black market.
Over all the current system is new to all three states. Of course there is room for improvement when it comes to policies and procedure. I don’t think we can or should go back to banning all sales. Over time the system will be worked out. So for the attorney general that filed suite. Stop trying to control the people evidentially it’s what your state wants, ever think about that, put your power and ego to the side and let us live.
