In America favor for marijuana legalization often change, With the changing of government official and hidden agendas. In 1974 the public support for marijuana legalization was at 19%. Support grew during the 1970s reaching nearly 30% in 1978. During the Reagan years support decreases do to the “Just Say No” campaign. This campaign help shift Americas views on legalization. The government used news publications all over the country from TV, radio and newspaper to push and change the public perception of marijuana. This moved in turn worked. At the time the public believe all news to be fact.
In 1976 A Virginia college conducted a study using mice. There researched found that marijuana, shrank or destroyed brain tumors. After the DEA got word of there results all research and future development was shut down by President Gerald Ford. Giving exclusive research rights to major pharmaceutical companies.
So what’s changing public perception today? Knowledge and understand of marijuana capabilities is slowly shifting the public understand of cannabis. You can’t show people being healed of cancer all over the world and expect people not to research and find out more. Thanks to social media and the internet marijuana true use is being exposed.
Why push so hard to keep marijuana true capabilities hidden. This plant has been around for thousands of years. Yet our society treats it as if its something that just came about. At this point the people want legalization. It will never be the government job to tell you how to live your lives. The government as a whole has over stepped their boundaries. We don’t need you intruding on our lives. Let us live………….
