Soccer Enthusiast: Bob Marley was not only passionate about music but also a talented soccer player. He was known to play soccer regularly with his bandmates and friends, and he even considered pursuing a professional career in soccer before focusing on music.
Spiritual Beliefs: Marley was deeply influenced by the Rastafari movement and its principles. He followed the faith’s spiritual beliefs, including a commitment to living a natural lifestyle, adherence to a plant-based diet, and the use of cannabis as a sacrament for spiritual enlightenment.
Philanthropic Efforts: Despite his humble beginnings, Marley was known for his generous philanthropy. He often donated a significant portion of his earnings to charitable causes, particularly in his home country of Jamaica. Brush with Assassination: In 1976, during a period of political turmoil in Jamaica, gunmen attacked Marley and his band at his home in Kingston. Are you asking do I have a lot of money or a big house? Bob says no I am not rich in that way. Marley goes on to tell the reporter that’s the westerner’s way of thinking. If you measure my wealth by material possessions than no, I am not rich.

Marley loved helping his people and doing charity work. Bob would have a line at his front door every day. He would give any and everybody money for everything from starting a business or just buying food and clothes. Bob always made sure he gave everybody who asked for help more than enough. Bob did not value money. Bob appreciated the people around him.

Bob left Jamaica to go on tour. Jamaica was going through hard times while Bob was gone. In Jamaica, there was war in the streets. Two rival gangs were killing each other in the streets of Jamaica.

The two leaders of these groups contacted Bob to set up a peace concert. Many were afraid for Bob to go through with this show from fear for Bob’s life. The day before the show a group of men broke into Bob’s home and shot up his house. They tried to kill everyone; a few got shot in the chest and head. Luckily no one died. The next day the peace concert was scheduled to take place. Bob thought about not going. Marley decided to attend the show.

People that were at the concert reported feeling a sense of euphoria and peace. People reported during the whole show all you could feel was love. These are the same people who a week before was at war with each other now celebrating together. At the end of the concert, the Prime Minister Michael Manley and the opposition leader Edward Seaga joined hands with Marley. Through the ganja, smoke history was being made.
